Fledgling

I am a veteran teacher of 23 years, but a fledgling at 21st century technology! I chose this photograph because this is how I feel as I explore all of the tools that are completely new to me. Well, yes, I've heard about them, but each click opens up something new until pretty soon I feel just like this little bug; totally surrounded and encompassed as I venture out into the unknown! And yes, I did take this picture!

About Me

My photo
Fledgling
I am an elementary school teacher in a unique, K-6 program I helped create 20 years ago. I am now in the process of working to charter it for the district. I've been very lucky to have had free reign designing a curriculum that makes sense and works: thematic, multi-aged classes, non-graded, hands-on, project-based, cooperative activities, and fun! We developed Multicultural days where students form K-6 buddy groups and travel to different countries, Service Learning projects that have helped the community as well as globally, and monthly field trips that give students real life experiences with what they are learning about in class. I've also been very fortunate to team with incredibly talented and hilarious teachers who have become my best friends and favorite traveling partners. I am a great lover of life! I've had many amazing adventures traveling to 13 countries, whitewater rafting, skiing, hiking, kayaking, Kite surfing, wind surfing, and camping. I also do photography on the side; I love all of the arts! I have the very best son, and now daughter-in-law, that a person could ever hope to have, and wonderful family! My life is rich and I wish it would never end!
